Commissioned Portrait Procedures

The artist and client will work together to determine the elements that would best support the appearance and personality of the subject.  Such factors as lighting, color, attire, setting, and pose are considered.  Photographic sessions are then scheduled to capture that essence.  From the photos a creative dialogue occurs from which the final appearance of the portrait emerges.  The client and artist will select a photograph which will act as the primary reference for the commission.  Normally one photograph will stand out, although it is not uncommon to use parts from several photographs in the final piece.  If either the artist or the client feels they need clarity, then the artist will do a sketch incorporating the changes and suggestions before initiating the commission.  All portraits can be shipped, please contact us for shipping costs.

All portraits are unframed.  A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to initiate commission, balance due upon delivery.  Travel expenses will be added outside the Cortez, CO area.  Additional subjects will be extra.  State sales tax will be added in Colorado.  All portraits can be shipped, please contact us for shipping costs.
